Bangladeshi fixed line operator Ranks Telecom has agreed a US$ 15 million loan with Infrastructure Development Company Limited (IDCOL) and a syndicate of lenders to expand its PSTN network.
According to TeleGeography’s GlobalComms database, RanksTel is licensed for all areas of the country except the capital, Dhaka, and launched CDMA 800MHz WiLL services in September 2005 over a network built by Huawei and ZTE; it signed up around 50,000 subscribers by the end of 2006, mostly in the Sylhet.
