Construction of two permanent Smiling Sun medical clinics is imminent, following a ceremony where the President of Chevron Bangladesh Steve Wilson handed over a cheque to the amount of BDT 19,60,000 to the General Secretary of Sylhet Samaj Kallyan Sangstha (SSKS), Md. Belal Ahmed, on June 25, 2007.
The clinics will offer health care services to people living near the Bibiyana gas field, in Habiganj district.
The Chevron funded Smiling Sun clinics are part of a wide network of 318 permanent and 8,212 satellite clinics run all over Bangladesh under a USAID supported health care program.
