Bangladesh: Opening skies

Bangladesh’s second private passenger airline will begin domestic operations next month in a fast growing market.

United Airways is due to start flying to Chittagong and to the north-eastern city of Sylhet, from the capital Dhaka in the third week of June, company director Ferdous Alam said. The company, owned by expatriate Bangladeshis living in Britain, has secured a de HavillandFokker 100

“We will initially serve domestic destinations. But, our main target is to fly to the southern cities of China and the Gulf. Bangladeshi air traffic to these destinations has increased tremendously in recent times,” said, Mr. Alam.
